About us

The goal of our program is to enhance residents' educational experience and expand their knowledge and skills in podiatric medicine, foot and ankle surgery and wound care. The environment at Long Island Jewish Forest Hills and affiliates offers a wide variety of training experience including trauma, podiatric surgery, orthopedics, and office rotations to name a few.

Three residents are selected each year (9 in total) to participate in our three year residency program. Training takes place at Long Island Jewish Forest Hills, Syosset Hospital, Nassau University Medical Center, Glen Cove Hospital, the Podiatry Clinic Wound Care Center at Forest Hills, and private offices.

The program is integrated into all specialties offered in the health system with a competency-based curriculum that includes:

  • Anesthesia
  • Behavioral science
  • Emergency medicine
  • Endocrinology
  • General surgery
  • Infectious disease
  • Internal medicine
  • Medical imaging
  • Orthopedic surgery
  • Pathology
  • Podiatric surgery
  • Podiatric medicine
  • Office rotations
  • Wound care

Each resident will receive a Certificate of Completion in Podiatric Medicine and Surgery/RRA, approved by the Council on Podiatric Medical Education, upon successful completion of the program.

Application process

Applicants interested in the podiatric medicine and surgery training program at Long Island Jewish Forest Hills should apply through the CASPR system. No applications are accepted after Oct. 30.
