Interviewing information

Completed applications with all the required documents are reviewed between September and December. We receive approximately one thousand applications and we extend invitations to interview with approximately 100 applicants each year for only 3 spots.  Interview invitations are sent via email. The interview dates traditionally are from early November to February.

Once you are invited for an interview, we would like to make your time at Lenox Hill Hospital as productive as possible. The following is a guide to how the interview day may proceed.

  • Breakfast and applicant orientation
  • Interviews with five to seven faculty members
  • Campus bus  tour
  • Lunch with residents

The general surgery residency program at Lenox Hill Hospital participates in the National Resident Match Program. Due to the volume of applications we receive and the time constraints of individual interviews, we may not consider applications received after the annual ERAS application deadline.

Interview lodging

The program does not pay for your lodging. However, there are a variety of hotels in the area surrounding the hospital. For a listing of nearby hotels, please visit our visitor information page.
