Research is an integral part of the activities in the Division of Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine. All fellows participate actively in research. The division maintains the Lilling Family Neonatal Research Lab at the Feinstein Institute for Medical Research, which supports an active laboratory based research program coordinated by specialized research scientists. The division also supports an active clinical research program at Cohen Children’s Medical Center which is coordinated by specialized research support personnel. Active areas of research include:

A detailed neonatal patient database and EHR support a variety of quality and outcomes projects. Faculty, fellows, nurse practitioners, and residents have been yearly presenters at national pediatric research meetings. As Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine fellows, you will have the opportunity to participate in a wide array of educational experiences designed to enhance your skills and your future career endeavors. All our fellows are guided throughout the three-year program by a mentor, a member of the faculty, to ensure they are developing the necessary skills to be successful in the field.
Fellows in the neonatal-perinatal medicine fellowship program receive extensive support as they prepare for their board certification exams. We give trainees access to written self-assessments, as well as mock oral examinations.

Throughout the training program, fellows learn about how to navigate and leverage the resources of health care systems, strategic elements of practice management and how to adapt and grow in the changing health care landscape.
