Individualized care for every patient
If you or someone you love has issues with speech and language, swallowing or cognitive abilities, our team is here to help. We work with other specialists within Northwell Health to ensure you receive the highest quality, most comprehensive care.

Overview

The speech-language pathologists at Northwell Health Rehabilitation Network provide services specializing in the treatment and evaluation of patients with speech, voice, language, cognitive-linguistic and swallowing disorders.

Our skilled specialists provide one-on-one care, aimed at each patient’s individual needs and goals. Goals of speech-language pathology include improvement of:

  • Communication skills
  • Swallowing
  • Cognitive abilities

Coordination across specialties

Speech-language pathologists collaborate with experts across Northwell Health. Within the Rehabilitation Network, they work closely with physiatrists (rehab physicians), physical therapists and occupational therapists as necessary to benefit each patient’s individual condition and treatment plan.

They also work with professionals outside of rehabilitation, depending on the individual patient’s condition and their rehabilitation setting (inpatient or outpatient). This can include collaboration with experts within neuroscience, cancer, otolaryngology (ear, nose and throat) and pediatrics to help facilitate recovery for patients.

Specialized experts

Speech-language pathology services at Northwell Health include care by certified experts. By having team members with specific treatment certifications, the Rehabilitation Network is able to provide a great variety of treatment options to patients while ensuring that they are performed at the highest quality. The team includes therapists that are qualified with a variety of different certifications including Lee Silverman Voice Treatment (LSVT) and VitalStim
