Restoring function, independence and quality of life
Our team of physiatrists is here to develop a comprehensive care plan that's focused on nonsurgical treatments to help you heal both physically and emotionally.

Overview

Physical medicine and rehabilitation is a medical specialty composed of board-certified physiatrists. Physiatrists, or rehabilitation physicians, are nerve, muscle, and bone experts who treat injuries or illnesses that affect how people move. Physiatrists are integral in helping to rediscover and restore each patient’s optimal level of function, independence and quality of life.

The team of physiatrists at Northwell Health Rehabilitation Network will develop a comprehensive plan focused on nonsurgical treatments that will help patients heal medically, socially and emotionally. They may recommend nerve testing, therapeutic injections, medications, physical therapy, assistive devices (e.g., braces or splint) or prosthetics (e.g., artificial joint or limb).

Our physiatrists work with colleagues in other departments including:

  • Neuroscience
