Lee Silverman Voice Treatment (LSVT) is a method for improving voice and speech in individuals with Parkinson’s disease or brain injuries that impact the voice.

LSVT treats perceptional issues with voice (how a patient’s voice is perceived by themselves). A common attribute of Parkinson’s disease is that patients tend to speak at a low volume. LSVT-certified therapists teach patients to “think loud.” The goal is to train the patient to perceive that they are speaking loudly, when they are actually speaking at a normal volume. Specific aspects of LSVT include exercises, recordings and measuring voice volume.
