Priya Kumar Shah is a native of Long Island. She graduated from Brown University with an AB in human biology. She then attended the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, followed by a radiology residency at New York Presbyterian Hospital-Cornell. She completed a fellowship in breast and body imaging at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
Dr. Shah joined the faculty at North Shore University Hospital in 2006 after fellowship, and has been here since. She is active in both the body and breast divisions, where she enjoys teaching residents and fellows. She has been active in resident education and was honored to receive the Teacher of the Year Award from the residents in 2013. In July 2014, she became Associate Program Director for the combined North Shore University Hospital-Long Island Jewish residency program.
Dr. Shah is an active member of the educational track faculty program at Northwell Health, working with colleagues in the body and breast divisions to develop a progressive lecture series using flipped classroom and other innovative teaching techniques. She has coordinated a well-received biopsy workshop course beginning in 2014-2015.
Dr. Shah has also been active at the Hofstra NSLIJ School of Medicine. She has been a clinical faculty member teaching in the 1st year Structure lab, and has served on the Core and Extended Interview Committees at the School of Medicine.
Dr. Shah has authored/co-authored several articles and book chapters, as well as numerous educational exhibits at RSNA and ARRS.
