At the Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, we believe that education is a part of our duty to the future of our field. That's why we actively participate in the education of tomorrow's doctors and surgeons.
Graduate medical education
At the Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, all of our physicians serve as faculty within the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell and are committed to the education and training of tomorrow’s doctors. They are also actively engaged in the Northwell Plastic Surgery Residency Program, where they train resident physicians in becoming plastic surgeons.
We currently offer the following fellowships and residency:
Residency in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Northwell Health
The Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Residency Program at Northwell Health is a six-year integrated training program. Each year, our residents rotate through the tertiary hospitals in the health system. These include Long Island Jewish Medical Center, North Shore University Hospital, Cohen Children’s Medical Center, Staten Island University Hospital, Lenox Hill Hospital and the Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital (MEETH). This diversity in training sites provides broad exposure to faculty, patients and clinical scenarios.
Fellowship in Aesthetic and Reconstructive Breast Surgery at Lenox Hill Hospital
The Aesthetic and Reconstructive Breast Surgery Fellowship at Lenox Hill offers a one-year experience in aesthetic and reconstructive breast surgery. The fellowship offers a unique combination of microsurgical training as well as other aspects of reconstructive and aesthetic breast surgery. Both the main campus and the MEETH campus of Lenox Hill Hospital are utilized. The fellows are involved with over 130 free flap procedures per year and, in addition, each has his or her own aesthetic breast surgery clinic at MEETH throughout the fellowship.
Fellowship in Aesthetic Surgery at Lenox Hill Hospital
The aesthetic surgery fellowship at Lenox Hill offers a one-year experience in aesthetic surgical training endorsed by the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. The program is directed by a committee of five directors of plastic surgical services within New York City and provides an opportunity for extensive supervised experience. This hands-on approach, in addition to fellow involvement in dedicated conferences and rounds, makes our program unique.
