As senior vice president of quality, Paul Wright, MD, collaborates with Northwell Health's leadership to develop and implement quality initiatives that will improve patient care across the Neuroscience Institute's neurology and neuroscience services. He also serves associate medical director of North Shore University Hospital, where he is responsible for improve the quality of care delivered at the 806-bed teaching hospital..
Dr. Wright has served as an attending neurologist at NSUH and LIJ Medical Center for more than 15 years. Most recently, he served as director of performance improvement at Northwell’s Cushing Neuroscience Institute. He is also clinical assistant professor of neurology at the Hofstra Northwell School of Medicine.
Dr. Wright has held a number of elected and appointed positions at NSUH. He is immediate past president of the hospital's medical staff society. Dr. Wright also continues to serve on several hospital committees, including chair of the medical staff credentials committee. He has extensive research experience, having served as co-investigator on numerous studies related to carotid artery disease and stroke. Dr. Wright was also the primary investigator on the CLOSURE 1 trial for PFO (patent foramen ovale) closure for stroke/transient ischemic attack. He is a member of numerous professional societies, including the American Academy of Neurology, the American Heart Association, the American Medical Association and the Nassau County Medical Society.
Dr. Wright earned his undergraduate degree in neuroscience from Cornell University and his medical degree from the Sackler School of Medicine, Tel Aviv, Israel. He completed his residency in neurology and a fellowship in stroke at Mount Sinai Medical Center.
