At the Division of Minimally Invasive and Robotic Surgery, we focus our energy on becoming frontrunners of the latest minimally invasive and robotic gynecologic surgical approaches. Our experts are extremely skilled at using a robot-assisted approach, which allows us to offer minimally invasive surgery to more women than ever before. By implementing the latest cutting-edge technology, we can perform precise procedures with more accuracy and control than ever before, which means fewer incisions, less recovery time and less pain after surgery.
Our specialists encourage open communication and can answer any questions you may have. We listen to your concerns before developing a treatment plan that is unique to you, always keeping your priorities top-of-mind. We’ll make sure you understand exactly how your condition is affecting you, what your options are and what you can expect throughout the treatment process. Because we don’t just treat your condition - we work hard to make sure your path to recovery is as easy and short as possible.
The skilled surgeons at the Division of Minimally Invasive and Robotic Surgery are trained in all of the latest minimally invasive techniques, including robotic surgery and single-incision surgery. The benefits of a minimally invasive approach include a shortened hospital stay, decreased postoperative pain, improved cosmetic results and a rapid return to normal activities.
Our goal is to get patients back to their presurgical routine quickly without compromising quality of care. From social work to home care to evening appointments, our team members offer the entire range of services that patients need and deserve for a speedy and comfortable recovery.
A new standard of gynecologic care
Robot-assisted, minimally invasive techniques are becoming the gold standard for many gynecologic surgeries at Northwell.
Traditional laparoscopy gives surgeons a 2D view and tools that can move in three directions. With the robot, your surgeon can see a high-de nition 3D view inside of your body and control delicate instruments that move in seven different directions, much like a human wrist. The robot is completely under your specialist’s control throughout the entire surgery.
More people than ever are now candidates for minimally invasive surgery. Before robotic technology transformed the operating room, many patients were not candidates for a minimally invasive approach due to factors such as prior surgical history, age, obesity or other complex needs. With the addition of robotic technology, Northwell surgeons can proudly offer minimally invasive options to the vast majority of our patients.
This bene t is especially important for women who are diagnosed with gynecological cancers. Studies show that women who receive surgery for a gynecologic cancer and leave the hospital after a shorter period of time have far fewer complications and improved outcomes.
While our doctors remain diligent in furthering their education and skill in these state-of-the-art operations, many Northwell Health physicians also take part in training their colleagues from all over the world. When you choose Northwell, you’re choosing a leading level of precision and care.
Several Northwell Health locations have earned the title of a Center of Excellence in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery (COEMIG) by the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists and the Surgical Review Corporation by demonstrating a superior level of pro ciency in these surgical techniques.
