Our multidisciplinary approach encompasses the full scope of diagnostic, therapeutic and treatment options, and includes surgical oncology, radiation oncology, medical oncology, pathology, oncology nursing, social services, cancer genetic counseling and nutrition counseling. Long Island Jewish Medical Center, North Shore University Hospital and Huntington Hospital have been designated as Academic Centers of Excellence for minimally invasive surgery in gynecologic oncology and gynecology by the American Institute of Minimally Invasive Surgery (AIMIS).
Our specialists are experts in the latest technological treatment advances, including minimally invasive laparoscopic and robotically assisted surgery, laser therapy, hormonal and investigational chemotherapy, and intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT). Before practicing at the Gynecologic Oncology Center at Northwell, our physicians must graduate from medical school, complete a four-year residency in obstetrics and gynecology and participate in a three to four year fellowship program in gynecologic oncology.
During their training, our specialists conduct unique research projects in a focused field and are trained in open, minimally invasive and robotic- assisted minimally invasive surgery. Even after our specialists graduate from these rigorous programs, their education never stops. Northwell physicians are committed to staying up- to-date on research, techniques and medical breakthroughs so you can receive care you're confident about.
