Health care practitioners at two Northwell Health immediate care centers on Fire Island will be available in time for Memorial Day weekend.
The Northwell Health Immediate Care Center in Ocean Beach will be open for the summer season starting on May 24 through Labor Day weekend. The Cherry Grove location will temporarily open from May 26-27 and then open for the season beginning May 31.
The ailments that can be treated at these locations included, but are not limited to:
A Northwell Health medical professional will be available at each of these locations seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. If someone requires treatment outside of those hours or a higher level of care, patients can call emergency numbers and the police will direct them to the appropriate medical care, including nearby Southside Hospital.
“It has been so rewarding to hear stories of patients who have been cared for – from being patched up after a minor injury to literally lifesaving heart interventions – and knowing that those were made possible because of Northwell Health’s investment in these two immediate care centers along with the advanced medical practitioners who volunteer their services there each summer,” said Edward Fraser, MHA, vice president of community relations at Northwell Health and project manager of the Fire Island Immediate Care Centers. “We appreciate all of the support that has made these clinics possible and are pleased to be there for our patients and community members when they need us.”
This is Northwell's seventh summer at Ocean Beach and the sixth year staffing Cherry Grove.
