Northwell Gets High Marks For Promoting Future Workforce

Northwell Health has been designated a 2017-18 STEM JobsSM Approved Employer for its emphasis on science, technology, engineering and math. STEM Jobs, an organization that connects students with resources and media in those fields, rated organizations on their success in hiring and developing skilled job candidates, creating career paths and connecting with higher education institutions.

Northwell Health, No. 76 among 216 organizations listed, was ranked on how it:

  • Works to provide opportunities for employees to explore STEM careers;
  • Promotes partnerships with colleges that foster literacy in those areas and that connect classrooms to careers;
  • Engages in efforts to promote the importance of pursuing STEM literacy and connects to the positions for which the health system hires; and
  • Promotes STEM programs and career paths that actively attract and engage underrepresented student populations.

"As the largest private employer in New York and an innovator in health care, we are incredibly proud to have been named a STEM Jobs approved employer," said Joseph Moscola, senior vice president and chief people officer at Northwell Health. "Our leadership across the organization continues to look at ways in which we can build enthusiasm in STEM careers by creating career pathways working with the schools in the communities we serve sparking innovation and hope."
