NEW HYDE PARK, NY —
Nine Northwell Health hospitals have been recognized for their commitment to health care information technology with HealthCare's 19th Annual Most Wired awards for 2017 from Hospitals & Health Networks magazine.
Huntington Hospital, Lenox Hill Hospital in Manhattan, Long Island Jewish Medical Center in New Hyde Park, Maimonides Medical Center (a Northwell affiliate) in Brooklyn, North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, Plainview Hospital, Staten Island University Hospital, Southside Hospital in Bay Shore and Syosset Hospital were each recognized for using information technology to engage patients and offer them services remotely via telehealth, according to the results of the 19th annual Hospitals & Health Networks survey released July 10. They are among 36 other hospitals and health systems in New York State and 512 nationwide named to the most Wired list.
The annual assessment looks at how hospitals use information technology to enhance patient safety and quality-of-care priorities as well as their public health, administrative processes and workforce decisions.
"Our 'Most Wired' designation reflects our ongoing efforts to leverage information technology to improve the health of our patients, our community and continuously improve our operating efficiency and effectiveness," said John Bosco, senior vice president and chief information officer at Northwell Health, who oversees the IT function of one of the nation's largest integrated healthcare systems.
Northwell Health has an IT networking team of more than 1,500 employees working at the health system's 22 hospitals and more than 550 outpatient physician practices and ambulatory facilities.
