Joseph Manopella, MBA, appointed executive director of Manhattan Eye, Ear & Throat Hospital

NEW YORK, NY —

Joseph Manopella, MBA, has been named executive director of Manhattan Eye, Ear & Throat Hospital (MEETH), a division of Lenox Hill Hospital, effective November 2019. He has been promoted from deputy executive director of MEETH, a position which he has held since September 2017.

For the past two years, Mr. Manopella has managed nearly $70 million in capital projects while expanding clinical services and enhancing the quality of patient care.

In his new role, he will continue to provide leadership, operational oversight and strategic planning for the world-renowned ambulatory facility equipped with 17 state-of-the-art operating rooms and six specialized outpatient practices.

Under Mr. Manopella’s guidance, MEETH – which celebrated its 150th anniversary in October – has undergone numerous redevelopment and revitalization initiatives, including upgrades to its infrastructure, electrical services and chillers; expansion of ophthalmology, otolaryngology, pediatric and robotic surgical services; as well as, restoration of the lobby, teaching center and the historic great hall, where immigrants who landed at Ellis Island lined the hospital’s famous stairwell to be examined for eye diseases in the early 1900s.

The hospital is also preparing to open a $25 million fertility center this month and a new $7 million ophthalmology suite in April 2020.
