HUNTINGTON, NY —
The 2017 Huntington Hospital golf classic, which took place on June 7, raised nearly $400,000 to benefit Huntington Hospital's capital projects including the maternity unit, wound care center and concussion institute.
Golfers played at The Creek Club in Locust Valley and Glen Head Country Club followed by a surf and turf dinner beachside at The Creek. Dinner guests also participated in a live auction of several donated items, including New York Yankees memorabilia, exclusive golfing opportunities and premiere New York Giants and New York Jets tickets.
"It's inspiring to see the vast support of our community members during events such as the golf classic," said Gerard Brogan, Jr., MD, executive director of Huntington Hospital. "The donations that were raised will go a long way toward renovating the maternity unit and building a wound care center, which will further help Huntington Hospital maintain its regionally recognized clinical excellence."
Huntington Hospital recently received a Long Island-record fourth Magnet® designation for its high-quality nursing care and was ranked by U.S. News & World Report as the top community hospital in the New York metropolitan area for 2016-2017.
John Riconda, chief executive officer of Contemporary Computer Services Inc. and a Huntington Hospital trustee, was the honoree for this year's golf classic.
"It was a beautiful day and I am very grateful to all of the golfers and supporters who came out to help Huntington Hospital – my local hospital – as well as to the committee members, staff and volunteers who made this event possible," Mr. Riconda said.
