Free Caregiver Retreat and Symposium on April 13


On Friday, April 13, Northwell Health's Center for Wellness and Integrative Medicine will hold a free Caregiver Retreat and Symposium at 1500 Old Northern Boulevard, second floor, suite three, in Roslyn, NY. Held from 12 noon to 4 p.m., the event will help caregivers improve their personal well-being so that they are able to provide the best care possible to those they are caring for.

Maria Torroella Carney, MD, Northwell Health's medical director for post-acute services and the former commissioner of health for Nassau County, will provide opening remarks. The retreat and symposium will be led by Northwell Health staff and focus on:

  • Assessing caregiver stress levels
  • Identifying caregiver strengths and areas for improvement
  • Learning self-care skills, mind/body techniques to reduce stress (meditation, breath awareness and chair yoga)
  • Implementing a plan for self-care and accessing support systems.
