Endoscopy Center of Long Island earns quality certification

The Endoscopy Center of Long Island (ECLI) has been recognized by the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE) for promoting quality in endoscopy. The three-year certification requires a practice to demonstrate excellence in quality assurance and infection control.

Northwell Health formed a joint venture partnership with Garden City-based ECLI in 2013, which operates one of the largest gastrointestinal endoscopy facilities in New York State at 10,000 square feet. ECLI has 34 board-certified gastroenterologists, colorectal surgeons, pathologists and anesthesiologists who treat more than 10,000 patients each year suffering from diseases of the stomach, colon and esophagus.

"Our skilled nursing and ancillary staff add to a safe and comfortable environment for all our patients," said Robert Klein, MD, managing director of Endoscopy Center of Long Island. "ECLI is unique in providing continuing education programs for our staff and community. Sunday availability makes scheduling procedures easy."

The ASGE quality award validates the work being done by the Endoscopy Center of Long Island's staff, which places patient experience and quality outcomes at the heart of its mission. The facility, which was established in 2003, has five procedure rooms, state-of-the-art technology, pre-procedure and recovery areas.

"Now more than ever it's important for our patients to know that the benefits of undergoing procedures such as upper endoscopy and colonoscopy are maximized at centers providing the highest quality of care and safety," said Bethany DeVito, MD, ECLI's medical director. "ECLI's commitment to delivering high quality and safe patient care is reflected in the center's voluntary involvement with the ASGE Endoscopy Unit Recognition Program."

Adam Boll, vice president of operations at Northwell Ventures, said: "The latest recognition by ASGE further reinforces the high level of quality and dedication to our patients that both Northwell Health and Endoscopy Center of Long Island have and will continue to strive for."
