NEW YORK, NY —
Jason A. Ellis, MD, a cerebrovascular neurosurgeon, has joined the department of neurosurgery at Lenox Hill Hospital, a member of Northwell Health. In a dual appointment, Dr. Ellis will also serve as director of neurosurgery at Wyckoff Heights Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY.

Dr. Ellis' expertise in complex brain and spinal cord vascular lesions, as well as skull base tumors, will be an asset to our department of neurosurgery."
Dr. Ellis joins Lenox Hill Hospital from Atlanta, GA, where he previously served as a senior associate in neurosurgery at Emory University School of Medicine, as well as an attending neurosurgeon at affiliated facilities, including Emory University Hospital, Grady Memorial Hospital and Emory Saint Joseph's Hospital.
Dr. Ellis earned his undergraduate degree from Harvard University and his medical degree from Columbia University's College of Physicians and Surgeons. He was awarded a post-doctoral Doris Duke research fellowship in brain tumor biology at Columbia University's Neurological Institute of New York. Subsequently, he completed a residency in neurological surgery at New York Presbyterian Hospital-Columbia University Medical Center, where he served as chief resident. In addition, Dr. Ellis completed a clinical fellowship in cerebrovascular surgery at Emory University Hospital.
Throughout his research and clinical training, Dr. Ellis has gained significant expertise in developing pre-clinical models of brain and spinal cord tumors, testing translational methods for improving intra-arterial drug delivery to the nervous system, and utilizing microsurgical methods for treating patients with brain aneurysms, vascular malformations of the brain and spine, carotid disease, and skull base tumors.
Dr. Ellis is a member of prestigious organizations that include the Congress of Neurological Surgeons (CNS), the American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS), and the AANS/CNS Joint Cerebrovascular Section. He serves as a reviewer for the journal Neurosurgery and has co-authored numerous publications in peer-reviewed literature. He lectures frequently, both nationally and internationally.
