Auxiliary of Lenox Hill to feature celebrity chefs at annual benefit

The Auxiliary of Lenox Hill Hospital's annual benefit – Matters of the Heart: The Food & Heart Health Connection – will offer guests a unique immersive heart-health experience: a wholesome dinner and wine tasting, an engaging culinary demonstration by award-winning chefs, and a heart-to-heart conversation about the relationship between the foods we consume and cardiac health. The event will take place on Monday, April 23, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at The Yale Club of New York City located at 50 Vanderbilt Avenue.

Attendees will enjoy delectable hearty fare, prepared and presented by Michelin Star Northwell Health executive Chef Bruno Tison and award-winning chef, cookbook author and wellness authority Seamus Mullen. Leading cardiac experts – Lenox Hill Hospital's executive director and cardiologist, Jill Kalman, MD, and chairman of cardiovascular services, Varinder Singh, MD – will lead the discussion on the vital impact proper nutrition has on lowering the risk of heart disease.

"This unique interactive program will provide our guests with the opportunity to learn directly from world renowned culinary and cardiac experts about the important connection between our heart health and the foods we eat," said Auxiliary Chair Robin Waxenberg. "We are looking forward to an enlightening and transformative event."

Tara Narula, MD, CBS News national medical correspondent and associate director of the cardiac care unit at Lenox Hill hospital, will be the evening's moderator.

Proceeds from the annual benefit will provide continuing support for Northwell Health's three Manhattan campuses: Lenox Hill Hospital; Manhattan Eye, Ear & Throat Hospital; and Lenox Health Greenwich Village. Funds raised by the Auxiliary make possible such endeavors as continuing education courses for nurses and staff, a summer internship program for high school students, recognition awards for exceptional hospital personnel, medical research projects, community events, art initiatives and many other diverse programs.
