Unlike a typical urgent care center, we provide 24/7 emergency care to the entire community. Our approach is designed to offer our community emergency care that is uniquely efficient and accessible.
What we do
Lenox Health Greenwich Village (LHGV) represents a new era of health care focused on convenience, the latest technology and service to the community. We provide 24/7 emergency care to the entire community. Our approach is designed to offer our community emergency care that is uniquely efficient and accessible.
Our freestanding emergency department, which is a division of Lenox Hill Hospital, provides around-the-clock access to physicians and nursing staff who are board certified in emergency medicine. We can handle any medical emergency that a traditional hospital-based ER might treat.
The emergency department at LHGV may not be physically located within a hospital, but it is a vital program of Northwell Health, one of the largest health systems in New York state. This means the resources and knowledge of our vast clinical network - including 23 hospitals, over 650 outpatient facilities, more than 3,100+ members of Northwell Health Physician Partners and 15,000+ nurses - support every single patient we treat.
When you're here
When you arrive at the LHGV emergency department, you will be met by a nurse and emergency department associates to begin your registration and triage process simultaneously, so you don't have to repeat yourself. Our patient-centered culture ensures that you will be heard and assisted quickly. LHGV serves everyone, regardless of ability to pay.
After being escorted to one of our private treatment spaces, you will be cared for by a team of experienced emergency care professionals led by a board certified Emergency Physician. Your care team will work with you (and your primary care doctor or specialists, if you wish) to develop a plan of care that is individualized for your condition and needs. While the vast majority of patients are able to be treated and released home, should your condition require hospitalization, we will work with you to get you transferred to the hospital of your choice.
In addition to 24/7 care and 26 single patient rooms for safety, comfort and privacy, our emergency department offers:
- Limited wait times
- Bedside imaging equipment for rapid diagnosis
- Bedside tablets for medical consults and communicating with loved ones
- On-site lab and radiology facilities for rapid results
- Sexual assault forensic examiner (SAFE) availability, 24 hours a day
- Emergency transport to hospitals within the New York metropolitan area for patients requiring admission
- Seamless blood drawing services through our Patient Services Center – no appointment needed
