From the executive director
When the Lower West Side of Manhattan was devoid of healthcare services after the closure of St. Vincent’s Hospital, LHGV opened its doors to our community with New York City’s first free-standing emergency department on July 17, 2014. However, our plan has never been to open only one program or even one facility.
Our vision is to create a unique delivery of care model in downtown Manhattan with LHGV at its core. In addition to the emergency department, we have opened physician office practices in our Medical Pavilion on the 6th floor, a comprehensive radiology suite on the 5th floor and an ambulatory surgery center on the 4th floor. We have also opened Northwell Health physician practices on 20th Street and 15th street with primary care and multispecialty practices and two GoHealth Urgent Care centers nearby.
With patient volume continually increasing and overall patient traffic at an all-time high, we have increased our ambulance presence in and around Greenwich Village. In the future, we plan to open additional physician offices, an outpatient physical therapy center and more.
