Lawrence Davis, a native of Long Island, graduated from Woodmere Academy in 1970. He then graduated from Colgate University and then the State University of New York, Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn. After medical school, Dr. Davis completed a medical internship and a radiology residency at North Shore University Hospital, followed by a nuclear medicine fellowship at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine.

After serving as Chief of Nuclear Medicine at Jacobi Hospital in the Bronx, New York, Dr. Davis joined the faculty of the Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, Michigan. Over the next 16 years, he served in multiple roles in the radiology department including Chief of Nuclear Medicine, Radiology Residency Program Director, Associate Chair of Radiology and finally Interim Chair and Radiologist-in-Chief. He also served as President of the Michigan Radiological Society and became a Fellow of the American College of Radiology.

Dr. Davis returned to the North Shore-LIJ Health System in 2002. He serves as Vice Chairman and Program Director of the Departments of Radiology at both North Shore University Hospital and Long Island Jewish Medical Center. He also serves as the Director of Special Projects for the Office of Academic Affairs. He is a Professor of Radiology at the Zucker School of Medicine and at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He serves Einstein’s Assistant Dean of Students for the Northwell campus.  Dr. Davis’ clinical interest is nuclear radiology.

Dr. Davis has been extremely active in organized radiology and radiological education.  He most recently served a three year term as Chair of the Radiology Residency Review Committee (RRC) of the ACGME. He has served as Chair of the American College of Radiology Education Commission and as the College’s Vice President.  He has been President of the Association of Program Directors in Radiology.  He served as an oral board examiner for the American Board of Radiology and has chaired two ABR Examination Development Committees.

Dr. Davis is an author or co-author on 28 articles and eight book chapters primarily dealing with nuclear radiology and radiology education.
