John Hines has lived in Long Island his entire life, graduating from Hunter College in 1989, and SUNY Downstate Medical Center in 1995. He completed an internship in internal medicine and radiology residency, both at Winthrop-University Hospital, followed by an abdominal imaging fellowship at New York University, graduating in 2001.
Dr. Hines joined the radiology department at North Shore-LIJ in 2002, and was appointed Assistant Program Director of the LIJ radiology program in 2004. He assisted in the merger of the North Shore University Hospital and LIJ programs, which have been combined since 2013. He has been extremely active in program related activities throughout his time at Northwell Health, including interviewing residency candidates, holding bi-annual resident evaluations, and participating in the Program Evaluation and Clinical Competency Committees. He is also the director of radiology clerkships for the third and fourth year Hofstra medical students.
Dr. Hines has also been very involved with research, having co-authored 33 peer-reviewed publications, 68 educational exhibits, 23 web-based publications and four book chapters. His clinical interests are in gastrointestinal and genitourinary imaging. He has been very active in resident education within his specialty, giving lectures on numerous topics and assisting on the development of resident self-assessment examinations. He participates in several interdisciplinary conferences with personnel from the GI and urology departments.
