If an accident or a medical event sends you to the emergency department, our emergency radiology staff will provide diagnostic imaging and evaluation to guide your treatment. Our emergency radiology physicians are subspecialty trained in emergency radiology and related areas, including neuroradiology, musculoskeletal radiology and body radiology, and have extensive experience and a highly honed expertise in reading (interpreting) acute situations. They use a variety of tests, including X-ray, computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and ultrasound, located in the emergency department itself, in order to facilitate accessibility and provide the most rapid consultations possible with emergency physicians.
Car crashes, falls, heart attacks and other emergencies are not tied to office hours—and minutes can make the difference between recovery and lasting disability (or worse). So our emergency radiologists staff Northwell Health emergency departments around the clock. Our radiologists are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, working closely with emergency physicians to diagnose and help manage patients. They are also ready day or night to collaborate with clinicians throughout Northwell on complex and rapidly developing inpatient cases. With rapid, thorough and precise interpretation of imaging exams and timely communication with the clinicians providing care, our radiologists help ensure optimal treatment of emergent patients throughout the health system.
