George Ruggiero, DO, serves as Peconic Bay Medical Center’s co-interim chief medical officer where he shares responsibility for the quality and delivery of care at the 182-bed community hospital.
Dr. Ruggiero is currently chief of family medicine and director of medical education at Peconic Bay.
One of Eastern Long Island’s most respected family practitioners, Dr. Ruggiero was a recent president of the Suffolk County Medical Society. He’s a member of the New York State Osteopathic Medical Society, the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians, the American Academy of Family Physicians and the American Osteopathic Association. He’s also a recipient of the Patient’s Choice Award from 2011-2013 and he also received Compassionate Doctor Recognition from 2010-2013.
Dr. Ruggiero is a graduate of the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his residency training at Massapequa Hospital and he was chief resident at Nassau University Medical Center.
