As senior vice president, George Raptis, MD, oversees Northwell Health’s cancer services. He also serves as acting director of the Northwell Health Cancer Institute, a network of multidisciplinary experts who care for 16,000 new cancer patients each year, and conduct transdisciplinary clinical and translational research.
An academic oncologist specializing in breast cancer medicine, Dr. Raptis has developed and conducted investigator-initiated, industry-sponsored and cooperative group studies. He has educated and mentored medical students, residents and fellows, and participated in innumerable educational and research focused committees.
Complementing his academic endeavors, Dr. Raptis has developed and led a new multidisciplinary breast center and breast cancer research program. He has held administrative roles in divisional, Cancer Institute and oncology services leadership.
Dr. Raptis previously served as director of the Dubin Breast Center of the Tisch Cancer Institute at Mount Sinai and as an associate attending physician in the Department of Medicine’s Division of Hematology and Oncology.
He holds a medical degree from Mount Sinai School of Medicine and a Master of Business Administration from New York University. He completed his residency in internal medicine at Mount Sinai Medical Center, a fellowship in medical oncology and hematology at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center before joining their staff as a full-time attending physician.
