Women’s Sports Medicine
Female athletes train hard and play to win just like their male counterparts. Yet, they are at a higher risk for certain injuries around the hips, pelvis, knees and ankles. To address the needs of both female athletes in training and women who simply want to stay fit, the Women’s Sports Medicine Program at Northwell Health Orthopaedic Institute, in conjunction with Katz Institute for Women’s Health, offers a variety of resources and programs.
Our board-certified orthopaedists provide a full range of services to help you recover and stay injury-free. These include comprehensive evaluations and individualized treatment plans to ensure you can return to your full activity level. Among the injuries and conditions we evaluate and treat are:
- ACL injuries
- Shoulder pain and stiffness
- Stress fractures
- Circulatory problems related to pregnancy
- Spinal problems, including sciatica
- Osteitis pubis
- Carpal tunnel syndrome
In addition, we have a team of specialty physicians and skilled therapists who can help decrease your pain, improve your strength and enhance your flexibility to optimize your functional abilities and minimize the risk of future injuries. We also offer educational resources, wellness screenings, prevention programs and more to help you stay active, healthy and moving.
