Laparoscopic surgery

During laparoscopic surgery, a thin, lighted tube (laparoscope) is inserted into an incision that is usually one centimeter in size to provide pictures of the surgical area for the surgeon. Additional instruments are inserted through two to four additional incisions to allow the surgeon to perform the procedure. Laparoscopic surgery is commonly associated with abdominal surgery.
