Posterior Fossa Revision

Posterior Fossa Revision

If you have had posterior fossa decompression surgery, it is possible that you can experience a recurrence of your original symptoms. If you do begin experiencing symptoms associated with Chiari malformation, you should check in with your medical team to get an assessment.

Your doctors will most likely order a test such as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to see how your cerebrospinal fluid is flowing, and to make comparisons between your new images and past images.

It is not unusual for Chiari patients to require follow-up surgery as time goes by. Your doctor may determine that you require additional surgery, in which case, posterior fossa revision surgery will be necessary.
