Podiatry

About

Podiatry is a branch of medicine that studies, diagnoses and treats disorders of the foot, ankle and lower leg. A podiatrist (Doctor of Podiatric Medicine, or DPM) is a specialist who is qualified by education and training to diagnose and treat conditions affecting the foot, ankle and related structures of the leg. Podiatrists can further specialize in areas of podiatry such as: surgery, sports medicine, biomechanics, geriatrics, pediatrics, orthopedics, primary care or biomechanics (the study of the way the muscles, bones and joints in the foot, ankle and lower leg work together in the actions of impact absorption and propulsion).
