Urine tests

Urine tests can check kidney function, find blood and other substances that indicate the presence of cancer and look for substances released when bones are damaged. The components of a patient's urine can tell a physician about the state of the body.

A urine cytology uses a microscope to discover whether bladder cancer or precancerous cells are present.

A urine culture tests urine color and components to determine whether symptoms are due to an infection or bladder cancer.
