Treatment options vary depending on the type of parasite you may have and the severity of your infection. Your physician may recommend treatments for your infection or for symptom relief:

  • Antibiotics for the infection
  • Antiparasitic agents to get rid of the parasites
  • Antidiarrheal medications
  • Plenty of fluids, especially water, for dehydration

Travel Immunization Center at Northwell Health

The CART Travel Immunization Center provides medical information and immunizations for people who are traveling internationally. The largest of its kind on Long Island, the center provides comprehensive care by board-certified infectious disease physicians.

  • Printed health advice and information for each country on the itinerary
  • Brochure with recommendations for safe food and water consumption, jet lag and other international travel concerns
  • Immunizations and preventive medications that are appropriate for each traveler’s destination
