Ommaya reservoir

An Ommaya reservoir is a small, dome-shaped reservoir is attached to a tube under the scalp. This allows for the removal of fluid or the delivery of chemotherapy and drugs.

The Ommaya reservoir can also be used to take a sample of cerebrospinal fluid which may allow the doctor to see if the treatment has been effective and to detect any sign of infection. When the reservoir is no longer needed, it can be removed by the surgeon.
