Advanced surgical solutions
The skilled orthopaedic trauma surgeons at the Northwell Health Orthopaedic Institute use the latest treatments and techniques, including a combination of surgical and non-surgical options, following a close assessment of the patient’s needs.
They perform general orthopaedic operations and numerous reconstructive surgeries that include total joint replacements, spine surgeries, and fracture fixations.
The surgeons are also experts in treating conditions resulting from trauma injuries, including nonunions (fractures that don’t heal), malunions (fractures that don’t heal in correct alignment), infections and leg-length discrepancies. To provide the best care before, during and after surgery, they collaborate with physicians in other areas of medicine and rehabilitation to provide a seamless transition of care.

Geriatric fracture program
The geriatric fracture program is designed for older patients who commonly have other conditions contributing to their fractures. The team focuses on getting geriatric patients into surgery quickly - within 24 to 48 hours of injury - which greatly improves patient outcomes. As part of the interdisciplinary program, trauma and fracture experts work closely with endocrinologists on inpatient care and post-discharge follow-up. This unique program allows geriatric patients to receive coordinated medical care both during and after their hospital stay.
