Quantitative Sensory Testing (QST)
You may be experiencing pain that is caused by damage to small and large nerve endings. This type of pain is called neuropathy, and your doctor may recommend some tests to see if you have neuropathy, and to what degree you’re experiencing nerve damage.
Quantitative Sensory Testing (QST) assesses the severity of damage to your small and large nerve endings. Your doctor will use an instrument that stimulates your skin to record the reactions in your muscles and nerve fibers. The test is used to diagnose many different types of neuropathies, including peripheral neuropathies. It may also be used to identify where the nerve damage occurs.
