Nearly everyone has an occasional headache. However, when headache pain is severe or disrupts daily activities, treatments are available to reduce or even eliminate the pain.
Headaches are defined as pain in the head located above the eyes or the ears, behind the head (occipital), or in the back of the upper neck. There are two types of headaches: primary headaches and secondary headaches.
Primary headaches are not caused by other diseases. Examples of primary headaches and their causes are migraine headaches, tension headaches and cluster headaches.
The causes of secondary headaches are associated with diseases or conditions, such as brain tumors, strokes, meningitis, subarachnoid hemorrhages, caffeine withdrawal or discontinuation of analgesics.
The experts at the Pain Center specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of headaches and offer the most advanced pain-relieving treatments available.

As part of the process of diagnosing the cause of your headaches, your doctor may recommend a scan using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). This scanning device uses a magnetic field and radio waves to produce images and detect diseased tissue noninvasively.
To provide the best possible treatment for your headaches, you may require a number of tests, such as MRI. Once the cause of your headaches has been diagnosed, your doctor can work with you on creating a headache treatment plan that may include medical treatment or pain management.
