MRSA treatment

MRSA infections can worsen and become severe, if left untreated. Depending on the location and severity of MRSA infection you have, you may need one or more of the following treatment options:

  • For skin MRSA infections, your infectious disease specialist can drain the abscess and cover it with a bandage to avoid spreading the infection.
  • More severe, internal MRSA infections, such as those in the lungs or blood, can be treated with intravenous antibiotics for several weeks.
