CT scan (CAT scan) for Headache
If you are suffering from headaches, your doctor may recommend a CT scan, also called a CAT scan, to determine if there in any irregular activity in your brain that could be causing the problem. A CT scan uses radiation and computer technology to create sequential “slices” of a scan to look for irregularities, such as hemorrhage, tumor or infection.
Often, a CT scan is used to rule out underlying causes of headaches to determine a proper diagnosis. Once a diagnosis has been made, there are medical treatments and pain management options that can help alleviate your symptoms.
