Education and training

Even after attending medical school and completing fellowships in specialized areas, such as minimally invasive surgery or family planning, Northwell professionals are always looking to sharpen their skills. Our physicians participate in continuing medicine education courses (CME) and are relentless about staying ahead of the curve when it comes to medical advancements and offering groundbreaking care. Northwell offers a Residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology that prepares young physicians for primary care and general obstetrics and gynecology, in addition to valuable experience in subspecialty areas. Northwell also offers a Fellowship in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery, where professionals share their expertise on current state-of-the-art operation methods. See below for a full list of graduate medical education programs we offer.

As a physician, you have made a pledge to be a lifelong learner. Our mission is to lay the foundation that will make this journey an exciting one. Medical knowledge will be taught through multiple teaching methods and presented on varied learning platforms, not just didactic lectures. We have dedicated faculty who teach residents how to provide primary and specialized care,  specifically  women with any obstetrical or gynecologic conditions. We have  tremendous  surgical volume to develop the technical and surgical skills; this ensures every graduate from our program is comfortable performing any gynecologic surgical procedure by the time they complete their training. We have midlevel providers in both hospitals that will enable your residency experience to weigh heavily in favor of education over service. Our demographics will expose you to a wide range of patients from various races, religions, ethnicity and socioeconomic status. All of this, and  more,  is what distinguishes our program and offers a unique training experience that will benefit you for your entire professional life.
