Sports Therapy and Rehabilitation Services (STARS) at East Meadow helps patients find relief from pain and get moving again after an accident, injury, illness or surgery. As part of Northwell Health, STARS Rehabilitation is staffed by licensed, friendly therapists who are experienced in the latest rehabilitation techniques. The STARS Rehabilitation team partners with each patient, guiding them every step of the way toward a safe, healthy, rapid recovery.

STARS Rehabiliation at East Meadow offers classes in arthritis aquatics, multiple sclerosis and fighting cancer with exercise. Learn more about these classes below.

Arthritis Aquatics Program


  • Monday: 1:00 p.m.
  • Tuesday: 1:00 & 2:15 p.m.
  • Thursday: 1:00 & 2:15 p.m.
  • Friday: 1:00 p.m.

Exercise in a warm pool. Classes are 45 minutes and only $5. The Arthritis Foundation Aquatic Program allows patients to exercise without putting excess strain on their joints and muscles. The gentle activities in warm water, with guidance from a trained instructor, help patients gain strength and flexibility. The Arthritis Foundation Aquatic Program also provides a friendly and supportive atmosphere in which participants can make new friends and try new activities.

Multiple Sclerosis Classes

When: Monday 1:20 p.m. – 2:30 p.m., with Douglas Griffin, PT

STARS and the Long Island Chapter of the MS Society provide a group physical therapy program. The program is a series of six one-hour group sessions with a physical therapist that provides exercises for joint range of motion, flexibility, core stability and education.

Fighting Cancer with Exercise

The Strength for Life program includes:

  • Individual exercise plans based on your needs.
  • Instruction by certified cancer exercise specialists.
  • Exercise equipment for the client to keep.
  • Education on the benefits of exercise.

STARS Rehabilitation is pleased to announce their partnership with Strength for Life! – A 501 (C) 3 charitable organization dedicated to helping cancer patients and survivors regain their strength by providing weekly free group exercise classes.
