Southside Hospital rehabilitation programs include inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation services. The department features a New York state-designated adult brain injury program and offers an array of services for other conditions.

CARF accreditation

Inpatient acute rehabilitation

Acute rehabilitation is designed for individuals who need frequent physician monitoring, 24-hour nursing and intensive physical, occupational and/or speech therapy to maximize recovery. The length of stay is based on the patient’s diagnosis, needs and progress during rehabilitation.

Outpatient rehabilitation

Treatment at the outpatient rehabilitation department at Southside Hospital is designed to increase function, decrease pain, and improve quality of life for patients following an accident, injury or illness.

The team of health professionals, including physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists and neuropsychologists, have specialized training and certification to provide services in the following areas:

Physical medicine & rehabilitation

The Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Southside Hospital is staffed with physiatrists, or rehabilitation physicians who are nerve, muscle, and bone experts who treat injuries or illnesses that affect how you move and function. Our team of physiatrists brings the highest level of specialty training and will treat any disability resulting from disease or musculoskeletal/neurological injury. Our team focuses on the development of a comprehensive program for putting the pieces of your life back together after injury or disease.
