G-EO System™-Robotic Assisted Gait Trainer

It is the only device that offers the unique feature of realistically simulating climbing stairs and is operated by one therapist

Glen Cove Hospital is the only facility in New York and one of only seven in the country to offer the G-EO System ™ - Robotic Assisted Gait Trainer , the world’s most advanced robotic-assisted device in gait rehabilitation. It is the only device that offers the unique feature of realistically simulating climbing stairs and is operated by one therapist.
The GE-O System offers multiple therapy options for phase-specific treatment of each individual patient throughout the whole continuum of care.

Therapy options with the GE-O System include:

Floor walking

Floor walking movement allows patients to regain their ability to walk in less time when compared to conventional therapy approaches. By offering a realistic simulation of a physiological gait pattern, it allows patients to recover mobility and their independence in daily living

Stair climbing

The unique feature of simulated stair climbing (up and down) is generated by motion capture data and calculated to be in accordance the Blondel’s Rule for a step of 18 cm (2xStep Rise+ Step Depth = 65 cm). This feature allows the possibility of a complete rehabilitation pathway toward full recovery and independence.

Partial movement

The unique feature of partial movements allows isolating and generating specific phases of the gait cycle. Partial movement can be seen as the “first steps” to take into the gait rehabilitation process or as a specific training over isolated movements (pre-swing, swing, and stance).

Visual scenario

The patient experiences simulation of outdoor walking in various settings for motivation during the treatment session.  It also offers the patient and therapists real-time feedback of the patient’s performance, including pressure plate feedback, active therapy time, repetitions and distance.
