Glen Cove Hospital rehabilitation programs include a full array of services for neurologic, medically-complex and orthopaedic patients.

Inpatient acute rehabilitation

Acute rehabilitation is designed for individuals who need frequent physician monitoring, 24-hour nursing and intensive physical, occupational and/or speech therapy to maximize recovery. The length of stay is based on the patient’s diagnosis, needs and progress during rehabilitation.

Inpatient rehabilitation programs and services offered at Glen Cove Hospital include:

  • Orthopaedic conditions, including total hip and knee replacements and hip fractures

Outpatient rehabilitation

The goal of the outpatient rehabilitation department at Glen Cove Hospital is increased function and improved quality of life for patients following an accident, injury or illness. The rehabilitation programs at the department include a full array of services for neurologic, medically-complex and orthopaedic patients ranging from young adults to geriatric patients.

The team of health professionals includes neuropsychologists, occupational therapists, physical therapists and speech-language pathologists - all accessible within one department. Programs and services provided include:

  • Balance
  • Cardiac Rehabilitation
  • Geriatric
  • Hand
  • Lymphedema
  • Neurological conditions, including spinal cord injury and brain injury
  • Orthopaedic conditions, including total joint replacements, shoulder and foot/ankle

Physical medicine & rehabilitation

The Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Glen Cove Hospital is staffed with physiatrists and specialized therapists (including physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech-language pathology) who focus on the diagnosis and treatment of disorders that may cause impairment on an outpatient basis. A large volume of their cases involve spinal conditions and orthopaedic rehabilitation.
