Education and training

Along with our clinical services, the department is also home to clinical teaching and research. This is where we train physicians to become pathologists in our residency program. We host medical students from a variety of medical schools, as well as residents and fellows from other disciplines who rotate through the department to learn from the best. Also, important research is performed in many areas and is included in each faculty member's bibliography.

Residency programs

Residency in Pathology at Staten Island University Hospital

Our four-year AP/CP training program is designed to provide residents with current concepts and techniques of pathology in the setting of a university medical center hospital.  It is built around a structured core of required rotations, but is flexible enough to allow the pursuit of individual interests (through elective rotations and research).
