The Northwell Health Rehabilitation Network offers educational opportunities for health care professionals, including a residency program, continuing medical education programs and internships.
Many of the team members from Rehabilitation Network are active faculty in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the Zucker School of Medicine. The Zucker School of Medicine is one of the only medical schools in the country that requires students to have experience in physical medicine and rehabilitation. Students at Hofstra are participate in the following areas related to physical medicine and rehabilitation:
- Communications course
- Musculoskeletal exam
- Disability-specific session
- Student interest group in physical medicine and rehabilitation
A residency training program in physical medicine and rehabilitation is available at Northwell Health. The program offers comprehensive training in all aspects of physical medicine and rehabilitation, including out-patient musculoskeletal rehabilitation, acute and sub-acute in-patient rehabilitation, electrodiagnosis, interventional physiatry and consultations in the acute hospital. The Northwell Health Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation offers a one year ACGME accredited brain injury medicine fellowship program.
The network offers continuing medical education opportunities in the form of professional conferences and as part of the ongoing rehabilitation lecture series.

The Rehabilitation Network works with 30 colleges and universities as academic partners. As part of these partnerships, the network offers internship opportunities in physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech-language pathology.
