Our Services

Sports Medicine

A sports injury refers to the kinds of injuries that most commonly occur during sports or exercise.  Some sports injuries result from accidents, while others are due to poor training practices, improper equipment, lack of conditioning or insufficient warm-up and stretching. Our team of sports medicine surgeons treats athletes in all sports and at all skill levels to keep you in the game.

Foot and Ankle

The foot and ankle specialists at the Northwell Health Orthopaedic Institute provide a host of comprehensive medical services and procedures for patients suffering from diseases, disorders and injuries of the foot and ankle. Conditions treated by the team range from arthritis of the foot and ankle to foot deformities and chronic pain. The goal of all treatments provided is to improve each patient’s quality of life and function.

Total Joint Replacement

Joint replacement is a surgical procedure to remove an arthritic or damaged joint and replace it with an artificial joint.  The surgery is considered only after other treatment options have failed to provide adequate relief from pain and/or disability. Total knee replacement has been, and continues to be, one of the most successful operations in the history of orthopedic surgery, relieving pain and increasing the ability of the patient to participate in more normal activities of daily living.

Our joint replacement program offers a continuum of musculoskeletal care within a highly integrated health care system.  Our skilled orthopaedic surgeons bring the highest level of credentials, specialty training and experience to deliver specialized care to every patient for a return to normal functioning as quickly and safely as possible.  Our advanced techniques enhance our clinical team’s ability to maximize the clinical outcomes of our patients. Our full comprehensive team includes your surgeon, physicians, a nurse practitioner, registered nurses, physical therapists, social workers, a care coordinator (discharge planner), clinical assistants and YOU! Communication is key and we encourage you to help us by voicing your needs. Each member is essential to your care and committed to helping you achieve your optimum physical state.

Total Joint Replacement Preparatory Class

All of our patients will be properly prepared to undergo a total joint replacement procedure by attending our preparation class. Speakers from the Orthopaedic Nursing Unit, Anticoagulation Services, Physical Therapy, & Northwell Health Home Care will provide all the information necessary to be sufficiently prepared before, during, after your total joint replacement procedure. You are invited to bring someone to the class with you. This class is also a great opportunity to answer any questions you may have.

Nursing Care

Some orthopaedic surgeries may require you to stay in the hospital after your procedure. The nurses at Huntington Hospital have received Magnet designation for the 3rd consecutive time by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s (ANCC) Magnet Recognition®. This Gold Standard of nursing excellence is achieved by only 6% of U.S. hospitals.

Rehabilitation Services

The Rehabilitation Network of Northwell Health is dedicated to providing you and your family with result-oriented, comprehensive rehabilitation services. Our goal is to help you and your loved ones find relief from pain and get moving after an accident, illness, injury, or surgery. We’re your partner in a safe, healthy, more rapid recovery.
