Our hereditary cancer genetics program counselor
Avery E. Miller, MS, CGC is a board certified genetic counselor specializing in hereditary cancer risk assessment. She joined the multidisciplinary team at the Northwell Health/Florina Rusi-Marke Comprehensive Breast Center and the Hereditary Cancer Genetics Program at Staten Island University Hospital in 2014. Avery studied genetics at Bryn Mawr College, Bryn Mawr, PA and earned a master of science in human genetics and genetic counseling from Sarah Lawrence College. Avery is board certified through the American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC), and she is an active member of the National Society of Genetic Counselors (NSGC.org).
Avery is the only genetic counselor on Staten Island who specializes in cancer. She works hand-in-hand with doctors and patients here at Staten Island University Hospital and all over Staten Island. She offers consultations for adult patients who have a personal or family history of breast, ovarian, uterine, colon, pancreatic or other forms of cancer. Avery believes strongly in a collaborative approach to the delivery of medical care.
