Our Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology offers a wide scope of services to the community and to departments within the hospital, including internal medicine, surgery, pediatrics, radiology and rehabilitation. It is the goal of our division to provide the best possible care in a timely and cost effective manner.

The Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology provides care for adults ages 18 and over. When necessary, services are also provided for younger patients in collaboration with the Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology.

The Endoscopy Unit is equipped with state-of-the-art endoscopes and other modern technology. In addition to routine endoscopic procedures such as upper GI endoscopy, colonoscopy, biopsies and polypectomy (polyp removal), our highly skilled staff performs complex procedures like endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) with removal of gallstones and drainage of bile ducts. A wide variety of other advanced endoscopic procedures are also performed regularly.

The division also trains junior physicians (fellows) in gastroenterology, endoscopy and liver diseases under a fully accredited fellowship program by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education or ACGME.

Our division is proud of its record of performance and achievements that are accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations or JCAHO, as well as by state and local authorities. This is a testament to the highest level of quality assurance and performance improvement.
