Clinical expertise

The Entenmann Family Cardiac Center at Southside Hospital was the first on Long Island to receive the American Heart Association’s Mission: Lifeline Gold Award for partnering with first responders to deliver quality care to heart attack patients, and has also been recognized for best outcomes in New York for coronary interventions by the New York State Department of Health.

Southside has become a destination for Suffolk residents looking for complex cardiac care from experts in many minimally invasive procedures, including transcatheter aortic valve replacement, mitral valve repair, robotic cardiac surgery, and a minimally invasive approach to treating pulmonary embolisms. Many procedures can be done using advanced techniques that require with no incisions, which has many benefits and allows for a quicker recovery.   Our cardiac specialists are also leaders in the diagnosis and treatment of many other heart conditions including abnormal heart rhythms, heart failure, aortic disease and aneurysms.

At Southside, we work together so patients who need valve repair or replacement are seen by a multidisciplinary team of specialists as part of our Heart Valve Program. This program offers seamless visits with a care team that includes an interventional cardiologist and cardiac surgeon so that your visits are as comprehensive and efficient as possible. Together with your input, they will develop a personalized treatment and follow-up plan.

Education and training

Our physicians are board certified and highly trained in their respective specialties.   They are experts in diagnosing and treating heart disease and are called on regularly to lecture on advancements in the field.  In fact, many of them train doctors from other institutions on best practices.  Through these efforts, we remain at the forefront of research and innovation.

Research and clinical trials

As part of Northwell Health, our patients have the opportunity to participate in clinical trials and research studies. That means we’re able to offer treatment options that may not be available at other institutions.   Be sure to ask your team about research and clinical trial opportunities currently offered for your heart condition.

Support services

We will be with you every step of the way – whether it’s teaching you about heart disease prevention or helping you get back on your feet with cardiac rehabilitation, your health remains our top priority, even after discharge. That’s why we created the exclusive Follow Your Heart program, a free and optional home care service designed to eliminate hospital readmission after surgery.

When you leave our hospital following a cardiac surgery, a member of our clinical staff will make follow-up home visits as part of the Follow Your Heart program. The staff member, a specialty trained nurse practitioner or physician assistant, will be able to adjust medicine and perform routine health checks and additional services, all in the comfort of your own home.

Our cardiac specialists are part of Northwell Health Physician Partners, a dedicated team of doctors and staff who see patients in Bay Shore, Babylon, Deer Park, Patchogue and other locations throughout Suffolk County.  To schedule an appointment, call (855) HEART-11.
